What is the taster university?

The "Schnupperuni" is an offer of the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Dortmund for female students in grades 9 to 13 from all over Germany. During the "Schnupperuni", the participants not only get an insight into different areas of computer science, the computer science studies at the Technische Universität Dortmund and student life in general, but also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with female students, research assistants, professors and computer scientists from industry.

Why should I participate?

No matter whether you have already come into contact with computer science in class or in your free time, or whether you have no idea at all what computer science actually is - the "Schnupperuni" is definitely worthwhile. If you are already interested in computer science, the taster university is an ideal opportunity to get a deeper insight into exciting areas and also to get information about the structure and process of computer science studies. This way, you can not only assess whether studying computer science is right for you, but also have the opportunity to discuss all your questions directly with female students, research assistants and professors. In addition, you will learn how you can combine computer science with other disciplines (even during your studies).

If you are not yet interested in computer science or simply have no experience with computer science, the "Schnupperuni" will give you a better understanding of what computer science is all about and also help you to overcome prejudices against computer scientists. Did you know how multifaceted and diverse computer science is?
